Perhaps the most distinguished would be Irish pianist John OConor, formally the Royal Academy of Musics director. Its a true conservatory, which is what she wants. This puts getting into any of these schools equal to acceptance at the top 20-50 colleges and universities academically. Curtis is the most selective school in the entire country when including both music schools and traditional universities. It can help fill out ensembles. Watching the work the upperclassmen do is truly inspiring. Additionally, although Montclair State is in New Jersey, it is right on the New York/New Jersey border and is a 25-minute drive to Manhattan, ensuring MT students have easy access to Broadway productions and even internships.
